Discover the Story Behind the Spotlight
Kristy Laschober knows how quickly a polished life can collapse, and how difficult it is to rebuild one after prison.
Before her arrest, Kristy was a successful Orange County wardrobe stylist with a thriving business, a loving relationship, and a carefully maintained image of success. Beneath it all, however, was a lifelong addiction rooted in a childhood filled with surgeries, chronic pain, and early exposure to narcotics beginning just 10 hours after birth.
For years, she hid her struggle behind humor, ambition, and performance. Even after achieving a decade of sobriety, one routine hospital visit reignited the addiction that would eventually cost her everything. What began with a medically administered injection of Demerol spiraled into full-blown dependency, drug trafficking, federal charges, and ultimately a five-year prison sentence connected to a nationally publicized cross-country drug sting involving a Connecticut priest known in the media as “Monsignor Meth.”
But prison did not destroy Kristy.
It exposed her.
Inside federal prison, she lived among women whose stories shattered every stereotype she once believed about incarceration: grandmothers serving conspiracy charges, activists, survivors of violence, cartel wives, and women carrying devastating trauma beneath hardened exteriors. In cramped cells and brutal conditions, Kristy confronted the shame, denial, and emotional survival tactics that had shaped her entire life.
Today, Kristy speaks about reinvention, identity, shame, and the hidden emotional lives people build behind polished appearances. Combining hard-earned insight, sharp humor, and unforgettable storytelling, she challenges audiences to rethink everything they believe about success, failure, addiction, prison, and the women who survive all three. Her work explores what happens when the life you carefully constructed collapses—and how a completely new self can emerge from the wreckage.
Kristy’s presentations leave audiences challenged, moved, and forever changed by the humanity behind the headlines.
