Discover the Story Behind the Spotlight

Makini Bruce was born in Brooklyn NY. She is mother, advocate ,philanthropist and the CEO of consulting company “Bidder-Sweet LLC”. Her journey to entrepreneurship began in 2015 where Bidder- Sweet LLC launched its first showcase called “Kairos Moments''. This project was held in Brooklyn New York, which brought awareness to wrongful convictions & MASS INCARCERATION. Being indirectly impacted by the incarceration system sparked a passion in Community Engagement & Public Relations . This led to her organizing various women's Empowerment events to unify women of the incarcerated . She vowed to make every effort to educate people on how families and children are indirectly impacted. Like many she struggled upholding her household while supporting her loved one, and faced challenges in her mental and emotional health.

Despite her challenges she stayed focused, and Launched her own Radio/podcast show called “Facing the truth”, on DTF Radio. This show highlighted the criminal justice system and gave a voice to those impacted by the incarceration system. The show featured many activists, advocates, holistic practitioners, attorneys, former prosecutors ,formerly incarcerated individuals. She strives to Educate the masses on how systematic racism and mass incarceration correlates with generational genocide. As a mother to a son whose father is directly impacted she understands how having an incarcerated parent can limit a child's emotional development from an early age. Everyday has new challenges but building a support system for mothers and children will help break the cycles of generational genocide.
